Dr. Donegan joined North Texas Orthopedics in 1992 just two years after NTO opened. He has well over 25 years of experience as a treating physician, and along with our founder has helped build North Texas Orthopedics into one of the premier Orthopedic clinics in the DFW area.
Born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin it was only fitting that Dr. Donegan attend college in his hometown at The University of Wisconsin. In addition to receiving both his Bachelors degree in 1980 and his Medical Degree in 1985 from Wisconsin, Dr. Donegan received numerous awards for scholastic achievement including the, “Evan and Marion Helfgar Award” and the “Louis and Edith Phillips Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement 2nd and 3rd Years of Medical School” and graduated Alpha Omega Alpha. In 1986 he came to Texas to complete a 4 year Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the well respected University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Following residency he completed Fellowships in Sports Medicine and Foot and Ankle Reconstruction. Dr. Donegan is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and has contributed to numerous research articles on a variety of topics ranging from ACL Reconstruction to Joint Fusions. He is also a contributing author to the textbook “Surgery of the Foot and Ankle” and has done presentations, covering such topics as “Athletic Injuries of the Shoulder” and “New Techniques in Hip Surgery.”
What sets Dr. Donegan apart from any other doctor is the service he provides for the community, in particular for our local high schools and their student athletes. He is the team physician for several area high school teams. Dr. Donegan is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care for our young student athletes. It is common to see Dr. Donegan on the sidelines of a Friday night football game and then opening up a Saturday morning clinic for student athletes that may have sustained an injury on the field. He also makes weekly visits to local high schools to provide support for the school’s athletic trainers and their student athletes as well as donating time for their yearly physicals. Dr. Donegan also teaches student athletic trainers and health science students at local high schools providing lectures and hands on cadaver labs.In honor of his service to local high school athletics, Dr. Donegan received honorary membership to the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association.
Outside of North Texas Orthopedics, Dr. Donegan is married and the father to two lovely daughters. He also has a 1st Degree Black belt in Tae Kwon Do and is an avid wake boarder and snowboarder.
