Melanie B. Kinchen, M.D.

Dr. Melanie Kinchen joined North Texas Orthopedics in 2010 and has become a valuable member to our team of doctors. Originally from Ohio, Dr. Kinchen has over 9 years of experience in spinal surgery, and is considered one of the best in her field. From 2003 to 2009 Dr. Kinchen served as Medical Director for The Spine Center at Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier, California. Her educational background is stellar. She received her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Yale in 1990. In 1995 she graduated from Harvard Medical school where she served as the lead researcher for Orthopaedic Biomechanics. After Harvard she completed her Orthopedic Surgery Residency in 2000 at top ranked Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She also completed the John Kostuik Spinal Reconstruction Deformity Fellowship at Johns Hopkins in 2001. She is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery and is widely recognized as the expert in highly complex adult spinal deformity, reconstruction and failed back surgery. She also specializes in the treatment for Osteoporosis. She has a conservative approach to surgery and is well educated in minimally invasive techniques. She is also an accomplished and dynamic lecturer adept at educating both clinical and non-clinical audiences. In 2008 the publication “Black Enterprise” placed Dr. Kinchen on their “Hotlist for Top Professionals under 40 in the United States”

 

When Dr. Kinchen is not helping our patients return to the lifestyle that they are accustomed to, she plays the role of wife and mother at home. She also enjoys staying active by running, biking, and doing Tae-Kwon-Do. Another hobby of hers is playing classical piano.
