Dr. Eric Stehly is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with fellowship-training in sports medicine. Born in Minnesota, Dr. Stehly grew up in the Midwest and also lived in Chicago and Overland Park, Kansas. Upon graduation from high school, he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio followed by his internship in general surgery. Dr. Stehly’s orthopedic surgery residency was also completed at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

Having developed a special interest in complex shoulder reconstruction and sports medicine, he then completed his fellowship in each of these areas under nationally known orthopedists Jesse Delee, M.D., and Stephen Burkhart, M.D. Also, in the course of his studies, he completed research in the following areas: pediatric femur fractures, wound healing in diabetics, and ambulation after hip resection arthroplasty.

Dr. Stehly is married to a cardiologist, and together, they have two wonderful boys. In addition to raising two children and treating and caring for their patients, they are active in their church. They reside in Coppell, Texas.

He is actively involved in the communities, serving as the team physician for Byron Nelson and Eaton high schools. In this capacity, he can be found on the sidelines at the varsity football games and in the classroom providing a forum for the students to learn about orthopedic issues and what it takes to become an orthopedic surgeon. At the request of the athletic trainers, he can also be found in the athletic training room evaluating injuries sustained by athletes from various sports. With help from other North Texas Orthopedics & Spine Center doctors and physical therapists, he performs pre-participation athletic physicals annually at Byron Nelson, Grapevine, and other area high schools.

In 2009, Dr. Stehly joined North Texas Orthopedics & Spine Center, bringing many new ideas and techniques to the practice and providing quality care to his patients. Dr. Stehly is assisted by Cari Hall, P.A.-C.
